The first birthday sneaks up on you.
Somewhere between late-night feedings and watching them learn how to clap, a whole year passes. By the time you’re planning a first birthday, your baby already feels less like a baby — and that’s exactly why these sessions matter.
First birthday sessions aren’t about getting the “perfect” cake smash photo. They’re about remembering who your child is right now, in this small window of time that closes faster than anyone expects.
Every first birthday session unfolds a little differently, but they always include photographs of your family together and your little one solo.
Some babies reach straight for the cake without hesitation. Others inspect it carefully, touch the frosting once, then look up as if to ask whether this is allowed. There’s no script and no pressure. We move at their pace and let the story happen naturally.
I keep the setup intentionally simple — soft light, neutral tones, timeless textures — so nothing competes with your child. No loud props. No trendy themes that won’t age well. Just clean, beautiful images that hold up years from now.
The cake is part of it, but it isn’t the point.
I’ll guide you through everything ahead of time — wardrobe, timing, and what to expect during the session — so when the day comes, you can simply show up with your cake and enjoy it.
Sessions are calm, baby-led, and unhurried. If your child needs a break, we take one. If they never touch the cake, that’s okay too. The goal isn’t a performance. It’s an honest record of this moment.
First birthday sessions are typically scheduled close to your child’s birthday and book quickly. If you’re looking for first birthday photography that feels timeless, natural, and deeply personal, I’d love to help you document this chapter.
Because this year — and this version of your child — you will want to remember.
